These clots are dangerous because they can break loose, travel to the lung, and clog a vital blood vessel. This is called a pulmonary embolism. If you have had any history of blood clots, tamoxifen will probably not be an option for you. If anyone in your family has had blood clots, be sure to tell your doctor about this as well.
