Rihanna invites best friend Katy Perry to Barbados after Russell Brand split

Image
Rihanna has invited her devastated best friend Katy Perry to stay with her in Barbados following her split from Russell Brand. Heartbroken Katy, who is currently holidaying in Hawaii, called the 23-year-old We Found Love singer as soon as Russell revealed he was ending their relationship after 14 months of marriage on Friday. A source told The Sun: 'Katy is hardly speaking to anyone right now, but she called Rihanna as soon as she heard Russell was filing for divorce. 'Katy was embarrassed about calling her parents as they'd been so against Russell in the first place, but Rihanna was a great support for her and she really helped to calm her down. 'When Katy told her the news, she suggested flying down to Barbados to stay with her and her family.' Russell, 36, is said to have filed for divorce over claims Katy, 27, was not ready for children. An insider told the Daily Mirror: 'Katy is absolutely devastated, but the rows over starting a family had just come to a...

Rihanna waves off 2011 in tiny bikini

Image
The singer, 23, showed off her figure in a tiny orange and red two-piece on the beach in Barbados. She is spending New Year in the Caribbean after the end of a gruelling six-month run of gigs across North and South America and Europe. Rih relaxed with her family, including brother Rajad, as she took a break in her home country. But the Bizarre Lady and Caner of 2011 won't be having a complete break from performing. She's headlining a private New Year's Eve party at the luxurious Sandy Lane Hotel. Top boyband The Wanted are also on the bill and they too have been enjoying the Bajan sunshine ahead of tonight's gig. This week Rihanna released the video for her new single You Da One; which sees her rub or grab her crotch at least TWENTY times. Shot in East London, the black and white film is like a "specialist" remake of A Clockwork Orange, filled with her trademark grinding. On Boxing Day she was spotted at several parties on Barbados — and she didn't ho...

Rihanna: Improper Music Entertainer of the Year 2011

Image
Rihanna has spent the past six months on a ball-busting tour, cranked out an album, filmed some hot videos, and partied like a bad ass to the brink of exhaustion. But when it was over, she, like her fans, wanted more. “I cannot believe this is the last show. It really sucks. I’m going to miss you all so fu*king much,” she told her audience in London during the last show in the 98-date Loud Tour through North and South America and Europe. “This tour has been one of the best experiences of my life, I’ve grown so attached to you all – more than I ever thought I could be,” she added. Check out Rihanna’s photos; click to enlarge. Then in true fashion, she sang “Take A Bow,” “Umbrella” and “We Found Love” in a rousing encore. The 23-year-old singer has proved herself to be the hardest working woman in show business. Her songs are not only chart-topping and uniquely styled, she defines smoldering rock-star sexuality. She’s sassy, insouciant, free-spirited, rebellious, playful and wears he...

Rihanna completed her Loud Tour at London's The O2 venue last night (22.12.11).

Image
The 'You Da One' singer finished her huge 98 date tour in the English capital, and thanked fans for all their support over the last year. Before her encore of 'Take A Bow', 'Umbrella' and ' We Found Love', she told the crowd: "I cannot believe this is the last show. It really sucks. I'm going to miss you all so f***ing much. "This tour has been one of the best experiences of my life, I've grown so attached to you all - more than I ever thought I could be." The Loud Tour ran from June to December and included dates in North and South America and Europe, including 11 nights in total in London, with the final three filmed for a live DVD. However, the tour was not without upset as the 23-year-old star had to cancel two dates in Sweden in November due to exhaustion. The crowd last night (22.11.12) included fellow pop singer Cheryl Cole, who was hugely impressed with Rihanna's singing. She tweeted afterwards: "Just left last #Lo...

Rihanna demands room for her entourage at Jingle Bell ball

Image
YOU’D be forgiven for thinking Rihanna’s the Only Girl in the World allowed to have an entourage – given her latest diva demands. The 23-year-old Bajan is headlining this weekend’s Capital FM’s Jingle Bell Ball and demanded TWO massive rooms backstage. So poor Olly Murs and Pixie Lott have been downgraded to single rooms. Frantic organisers had to knock down walls to accommodate RiRi, who is bringing an entourage of more than 50 people – including an “eyelash whisperer” from the States to glue on her lashes individually. My mole tells me: “Everyone else performing, including The Wanted, have been forced to cram into a tiny room backstage. “Most acts have only been given a plus one, so Rihanna has put a few noses out of joint as organisers have had to lay on food, free drinks and free tickets for her 50-plus entourage.”

Rihanna finds her pop genre

Distinctionlessness has become something of a calling card and a weapon for Rihanna, the most consistent pop star of the past five years. Last month she became the fastest solo artist with 20 Top 10 singles on the Billboard Hot 100, slower only than the Beatles. She has pumped out these hits with little regard for style or mood - breezy dance tracks rub up against poignant gothically ruptured rock-soul ballads. Her voice is, for the most part, certifiably blank, which is to say it belongs everywhere. It hasn't always had a home. "Talk That Talk" (Island Def Jam), her sixth album, is maybe the first to suggest the place that has been hiding in plain sight all along, putting Rihanna at the center of the pop genre best suited for a singer of her fundamental evanescence - dance music, which conveniently is the mode du jour of contemporary R&B and pop. Rihanna's version of this sound dates to the club music of the 1990s, an era in which she would have shone. The best s...

Demure Rihanna gives critics the boot

Image
Raunchy pop star Rihanna looked as if she had toned down her image when she appeared on the X Factor - but a crude message scrawled on her shoes revealed otherwise. The Bajan 23-year-old performed her number one single We Found Love while wearing a demure tartan pinafore dress with buttoned-up collar, and her hair tied in a bow. But her punk-style shoes, daubed with scrawled writing, had the words "F*** Off" written on them. Fan Lucy Morgan, 18, told The Sun: "It was cheeky. I was shocked." Her prim outfit at first made it seem that Rihanna had toned down her act last night after her appearance on the same show last December in a provocative costume left little to the imagination and led to thousands of complaints. Broadcasting watchdog Ofcom later cleared the X Factor for family audiences but in September set out new guidelines ordering that programmes shown before 9pm should not feature skimpy outfits or raunchy performances.

Rihanna puts 'major fixer' home on the market

Image
Pop star Rihanna has listed a Beverly Hills Post Office-area home at $4.5 million, substantially less than the $6.9 million she paid two years ago. The listing describes the house as a "major fixer" with "extensive damage from moisture and water intrusion" at the roof, windows, doors and balconies. The home's water problems are the subject of a lawsuit the singer filed this summer in Los Angeles County Superior Court. The property will not qualify for bank financing, according to the listing, so potential buyers will need cash, a contractor and perhaps an umbrella, to borrow the title of one of Rihanna's early hits. Click here to find out more! The 8,520-square-foot, three-story contemporary includes a den, media room, breakfast area, three fireplaces, eight bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. The gated estate sits on more than three-quarters of an acre with a swimming pool. The singer-songwriter is a four-time Grammy Award winner and, at 23, already one of the world...

Rihanna Lists ‘Lemon’ House

Image
Grammy-winning pop star Rihanna’s Beverly Hill’s mansion is on the market, but according to reports the property is not so haute. The superstar purchased the contemporary 8-bedroom and 10-bathroom mansion in September 2009 for $6,900,00. In August of this year it was reported that Rihanna was less than pleased with her dwellings and filed a lawsuit against the property developer (amongst others). Rihanna claims, in public documents, that there are tragic design and construction flaws in the home that result in rain intruding the house, even in mild storms. The lawsuit also claims the seller—named as Heather Rudomin—failed to disclose the defects, which is a fraud in California. Neither the status of the lawsuit nor the current state of the property is known. The property’s listing states that it may be “subject to short sale” and the seller “will consider all offers”. It looks like Rihanna will have to cut a multi-million dollar loss; the city-view property has been listed with an ...

Rihanna Might Have to Lay Off the Booze

Image
Earlier this week, Rihanna canceled a performance in Malmo, Sweden because she was laid up with the flu. Now, tabloids report, the singer has been ordered to take it easy and quit with the tequila shots every other night. Don't they understand that girls just wanna have fun? Also in music news, Rick Ross isn't getting enough sleep either, Justin Bieber filmed a music video with Boyz II Men, Taylor Swift covered Justin Timberlake, and more... • Rihanna's been releasing hit singles at breakneck pace, dancing her (very tiny) pants off night after night on tour, and tossing back the Don Julio when she gets a spare minute, so it was really only a matter of time before she ended up working herself sick. The Bajan singer was forced to cancel a concert in Sweden earlier this week thanks to a nasty bout of the flu. Now, UK tabloid The Sun claims, doctors have told Ri Ri she's got to "Rihlax." Yes, they actually used that word. A source claims, "Rihanna is runnin...

Rihanna's Video Co-Star "Didn't Want Shoot To End"

Rihanna's We Found Love video co-star Dudley O'Shaughnessy has revealed he didn't want his time on set with RiRi to end, but he's denied dating the Bajan babe. The boxer-turned-model, who Rihanna apparently hand picked to star alongside her in the gritty promo, claims he loved appearing in the video - and not just because he got to simulate sex with the S&M star. When asked by The Evening Standard about how he coped getting up close and personal with RiRi, O'Shaughnessy claimed: "You’ve just got to get into it. It took about three-and-a-half days to film." He continued: "I loved it. I didn’t want it to end. Not just because it was 'a certain person’s' video but just because I love being on set." The 21-year then admitted he didn't find it too difficult when it came to working with the What's My Name singer, stating: "I wasn’t starstruck at all… She’s just such a nice girl. It’s not like just because she’s achieved so much...

Rihanna is Jessie J’s crush

Image
Singer Jessie J says she has a crush on singer Rihanna.“I don’t have a boyfriend. I’ve got a crush on Rihanna and Tyson Beckford. And I’m slightly obsessed with Katy Perry,” said the 23-year-old, who admits her hectic schedule leaves her little time for romance, but she has drawn up a wish list of famous lovers. “I’m so gutted I won’t be singing ‘I Kissed a Girl’ with Perry on tour, contactmusic.com quoted Jessie as saying.

Rihanna Gets Dirty Behind the Scenes of 'We Found Love'

Decked out in a cape-length flannel shirt, ripped jeans and farm boots, Rihanna takes it to the fields in her new video for 'We Found Love,' the first single from her forthcoming album, 'Talk That Talk,' which she shot in Northern Ireland. The controversial Melina-helmed shoot has already made headlines several times over, after Rihanna was scolded by a local farmer for wearing a black mesh crop top -- and nothing else -- causing the modest farmer to hop down from his tractor and give the 'S&M' singer a piece of his mind. Rocking a red bandana as a top, along with a patriotic stars-and-stripes bikini, cut-off vest, bomber jacket and several other style choices, the Barbados-born singer gets down and dirty with some farm boys, naughty with British model Dudley O'Shaughnessy and inspires a topless mosh pit, as captured in a behind-the-scenes clip, which just hit the 'net. "We're in Ireland, in Belfast. I think this is the perfect place for thi...

Rihanna Finds Sixth No. 1 on UK Chart

Image
James Morrison’s “The Awakening” started a second week atop the U.K. album chart Sunday (Oct. 9), as Rihanna raced to the singles summit after only four days on sale with “We Found Love,” featuring Calvin Harris. With modest second-week sales of 36,000, according to the Official Charts Company, “The Awakening” thus equals the achievement of Morrison’s 2006 debut “Undiscovered,” which spent its first two weeks at No. 1. His sophomore set “Songs For You, Truths For Me” reached No. 3 in 2008. “I Won’t Let You Go,” the first single from the new set and Morrison’s sixth U.K. top single overall, spends a third week in the top ten this week, dipping 6-8 after peaking at No. 5 two weeks ago. “Undiscovered” reached No. 24 on The Billboard 200, and “Songs For You” No. 49. “The Awakening” is released in the U.S. tomorrow (Oct. 11). Adele’s “21″ is back up two places into runner-up spot on the new album chart, having never dropped out of the top four since its early February debut. On the singles ...

Esquire selects Rihanna as ‘sexiest woman alive’

Image
Esquire has let it be known that if you’re standing under Rihanna’s umbrella or lying next to her on a California king sized bed than you’re up close and personal with the sexiest woman alive. Rihanna is taking this news, like most things that come across her pop landscape, in stride. She knows that sexuality is a part of her persona but for the vast majority of the time it’s just on a subconscious level. “At the end of a concert, I don’t feel like I’ve been this sexy thing. Really, I don’t even think about it.” I think the fact that she does her thing and sexiness just comes out in a very natural way is part of why the Barbados born performer is so titillating. She did acknowledge that at least part of her live show calls for some in your face hotness. “Unless it’s a song that really calls for it, like ‘Skin’ or ‘S&M,’ or when I cover Darling Nikki. There’s a section that’s called ‘Sex’ in the show, which is the obvious section for sexuality.” I’m going to assume that the followin...

Rihanna Says C Word Is Offensive To Everyone Except Bajans

Image
Rihanna reveals just what she thinks about her cunt necklace. (see below). Rihanna also has a real issue with being a role model, as a matter fact she loathes the responsibility. The Rude Boy singer saw her sexy wax figure on display in the UK this week alongside Amy Winehouse and Lady Gaga. Rihanna’s wax figure flaunts her envious shape while showing off just enough skin to tell you she’s no saint of a rock star. Rihanna is also on the November cover of British Vogue and finally speaks on that darn cunt word necklace she insist on wearing. We’ve stated before we think it’s part of her image and works quite well. The S&M singer did admit that she’s playing a part and her antics can be summed up as such. But the c-word necklace may be less of a marketing ploy and more of Rihanna’s familiarity with the word. She tells UK Vogue, “That word is so offensive to everyone in the world except for Bajans. You know African-Americans use the N-word to their brothers? Well, that’s the way we us...

Coldplay drummer wanted Rihanna's vocal

Coldplay drummer Will Champion wanted to sing Rihanna's part on one of the group's new tracks. The 'Fix You' rockers teamed up with the 'S&M' singer for 'Princess of China' - which is on their forthcoming album 'Mylo Xyloto' - but frontman Chris Martin admits she had competition from Will. He said: "There's a bit of a love story thread so we really needed someone to sing higher than me. For all Will's good intentions, he can't do it. You need to be female." Chris also revealed the group's fifth studio album is "dangerously close" to being a musical. He told The Sun newspaper: "Our new record is sort of a story through its 14 tracks - it's not quite a musical, but it's dangerously close." The album was recorded in London and Chris has previously said the input of guitarist Jonny Buckland has been particularly prevalent. Referring to one of the tracks on the album, he said: "'Hurts ...

Rihanna Drops 'We Found Love' Single

Image
Rihanna has been amping up her fans for the release of her new single, "We Found Love." In a flurry of tweets on Wednesday, she shared with fans the lyrics to the Calvin Harris-produced track, as well as the single's cover art. It all led up to the single's release on Thursday (September 22) morning on Facebook and the radio. As you would expect from a producer like Harris, "We Found Love" is a party-ready track. A synthy keyboard plays as Rihanna sings the opening lines of the song. It's a pretty sparse dance track that simply plays up her robotic-like vocals, a pulsing beat and a synth sound. The layers of the song are found in her vocals and Harris' production. On the song, Ri sings about finding that special someone. "Yellow diamonds in the light/ And we're standing side by side/ As your shadow crosses mine/ What it takes to come alive/ It's the way I'm feeling, I just can't deny/ But I've gotta let it go," she sings...

Rihanna Strips Down In Sexy New Armani Jeans And Underwear Ads

Image
Armani has rolled out another batch of photos from Rihanna‘s campaign for its jeans and underwear line after unveiling the first on last Thursday, and the photos keep getting sexier and sexier. In a couple of the new ads, the blonde wig-sporting pop darling works it in the glossy, black and white shots, posing in jeans, a leather jacket and a bra, while in a few others, she strips down to nothing but her undies. The campaign was shot by famed photographer Steven Klein and has already started running in magazines and on billboards.

Rihanna Bares All For New Armani Underwear Campaign

Image
Rihanna, already the face of the Armani Jeans campaign, has taken over the lingerie side of things as well. Sprawled seductively across the seat of a black Lincoln Continental, Rihanna balances her short, androgynous haircut with a lace-detailed bra, high heels, and a killer body. The photographer, Steven Klein, keeps the advertisement from heading in the pin-up direction by playing with shadows and body angles, maintaining Armani's high fashion image. What do you think of Rihanna's latest venture for her Armani campaign?
