Fall's hottest denim as seen on Lohan and Rihanna
Denim has had an identity crisis of late. From the ubiquitous boyfriend jeans to the slashed version seen on numerous celebs, summer has been all about experimentation.
Fall 2009 promises more of the same- and then some. Hold on to those acid wash skinnies- paired with booties and leather, they fall right into the rocker-chic trend that is so hot right now. Boyfriend jeans still look cute with heels, but the newer shapes are more fitted at the leg and slouchy at the top. Current Elliott started the craze and is still leading the way. Rich and Skinny is not far behind.
Fresh looks for the season include dark denim leggings. Everyone from Forever 21 to BCBG has a version of these. They work best with boots- no bunching or stuffing- and tunic tops.
Harder to find red-hot styles include motocross jeans. Knee padding and a distressed wash look fierce on Rihanna. For real life, pair these with black booties, a leather motorcycle jacket and a killer attitude. Singer22.com carries a few versions of this style.
Bored with the same old labels? Seven for All Mankind is almost fit for the Museum of History and Current Elliot is quickly becoming the McDonald’s of denim: available on every street corner. For something a little less run of the mill, try MiH British jeans. My guess is- they’re the next big thing. Tired of spending a week’s salary on this utilitarian staple? Check out Urban Outfitters. Their skinny jeans are many fashionistas’ best kept secret.
